Time - Banking Comes to Shoreline

When:   Wednesday, November 9, 6:30 pm

This November, Shoreline Welcomes the SWEL Time Bank! Join us at the premier Member Orientation and Potluck at the Shoreline Library.

What is time-banking?
Time-banking is built around the basic concept of earning and spending hours. Everyone’s skills, whether they are a medical professional or a house painter, are worth one “time dollar” per hour. The hours that you earn are stored in a “timebank” and can then be redeemed for any service of your choice from any member of the timebank.
Different than bartering, SWEL Time Bank members can earn and spend hours with any member using a low overhead, self-organizing internet based system.

In addition to the dedicated volunteers, SWEL is possible because of a generous grant from United Way of King County, and help from Eastside Timebank & Senior Services' Aging Your Way.

Thanks to Veterans Event

Date:

11/11/2011 2PM

Location: Shoreline City Hall

Mark Your Calendars for the Second Annual Veterans Day event on 11/11/2011, sponsored by the Shoreline Veterans Association.
The City of Shoreline has again made available the Lobby and Council Chambers at City Hall for this gathering, which will begin at 2pm on Friday, November 11, 2011.
All Shoreline Veterans, their families, and neighbors are invited to attend. The purpose of this event, unchanged from last year, is to recognize the men and women who have given their service to our country for all of us. The emphasis this year will be directed towards the younger veterans who have borne the brunt of recent service. Information as to the breadth and extent of assistance available to veterans by our own Shoreline Community College will also be provided.
Following the program light refreshments will be available for all attendees at no charge (the entire event is free) and ample time will be available for discussion with your friends and neighbors. It is hoped that additional events will be held in 2012 and future years, perhaps including Memorial Day, Flag Day, etc. all with at least one common theme 'Thank You For Your Service'.
Future planning meetings for this event will be held at City Hall commencing at 10am on the last Monday in September and October. Any one interested may attend or contact Dwight Stevens at 206-546-2894 or Frank Moll at 205-363-5363.
